Anti-Slavery Statement

This statement is made pursuant to s.54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Ben Burgess Holdings Ltd and its subsidiary Ben Burgess & Co Ltd have taken and are continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within their business or supply chain.

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. Ben Burgess Holdings Ltd and its subsidiary Ben Burgess & Co Ltd are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings.

Any references to “we”, “our” or “Ben Burgess” is to indicate reference to Ben Burgess Holdings Ltd and Ben Burgess & Co Ltd.

Our Business Operations

Ben Burgess has been serving the local farming community since 1931 and has supplied grounds care equipment since 1962. As one of two original John Deere dealers since the brand entered the UK market in 1965, Ben Burgess is also the supplier of several other leading manufacturers products in the agricultural, construction and grounds care industries.

Our Supply Chain

Ben Burgess sits at the end of many supply chains, many of these suppliers have published statements.

In-line with our vision to be an industry leader we only partner with the leading brands in their respective industries and product categories, as part of our vetting process we ensure they align to our culture and values in all areas including their stance against modern slavery. This further strengthens our position against slavery and human trafficking in the supply chains, but we will not become complacent.

Our policies and procedures

As part of our commitment to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in its supply chains, we have the following internal procedures to ensure that it is conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner :-

Supply

As part of our supplier approval process, we incorporate a review of controls undertaken by that supplier to ensure there is no evidence of slavery or human trafficking. We will not support or deal with any business involved in slavery or human trafficking.

Recruitment and Employment

We conduct robust checks on any new employee – including eligibility to work in the UK – to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will.

We are committed to complying with minimum and living wage legislation.

Policy

We have developed this policy to provide guidance to all our employees and suppliers.

Culture

We operate a culture of doing business ethically, this approach has been instilled in our business since its founding in 1931. Our Board of Directors continue to ensure we conduct our business ethically and with integrity.

Training

We will provide training to relevant employees on the risk and awareness of slavery within supply chains.
