John Deere Military Hiring Event Returns
John Deere’s Military Hiring Event is back! On 8 July 2025, the company will host its second annual Military Hiring Program Insight Day at its UK headquarters in Langar, Nottinghamshire — a special event connecting transitioning service personnel with new career opportunities in agricultural and professional groundscare machinery.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, John Deere is bringing back this powerful day of networking, demonstrations, and inspiration – and Ben Burgess is proud to be taking part once again with our very own stand. We’ll be on-site all day to chat with attendees, share insights into life at Ben Burgess, and support applications to the John Deere Military Hiring Program.
Why attend?
Attendees will have the chance to:
- Explore technician roles across John Deere’s UK and Ireland network
- Meet hiring managers and dealership representatives, including the Ben Burgess team
- Hear from veterans who’ve transitioned to civilian careers through the program
- Learn about the training and support available, including free technical courses
Service and ex-service members can apply anytime to the Military Hiring Program
Real stories, real success
One of the highlights of the day will be hearing from former service personnel like Graham Walker, a Royal Navy veteran who spent over two decades as a submarine engineer. After attending last year’s event, Graham is now a Service Manager at Smallridge Bros’ Callington depot in Cornwall – proof that the skills developed in the armed forces are highly valued in the world of agricultural engineering.
“The introduction to the brand really opens your eyes,” Graham says. “There are various workshops, dealer representatives looking to recruit, and talks from those who’ve already made the transition – it’s well worth attending.”

A commitment to Veterans
John Deere continues to lead in veteran resettlement. The company has:
- Signed the Armed Forces Covenant
- Named a Top 50 Veteran Employer in 2025
- Built a mentorship-based resettlement programme
Allan Cochran, Branch Training Manager at John Deere, says:
“Members of the armed forces have been identified as ideal candidates to bring their unique skill sets and experience to technician roles. This event is about showing them what’s possible and guiding them on that journey.”
Connect with Ben Burgess
As a proud John Deere dealership, Ben Burgess will be there on the day to meet attendees, share opportunities within our own workshops and service teams, and help interested individuals take their first steps with the Military Hiring Program.
Whether you’re looking for a new challenge, want to apply your military background in a hands-on technical role, or simply curious about the sector, we’d love to meet you.
